Brazilian wing-back Alex Sandro previews Sunday’s showdown at home to Inter before looking further ahead at the Champions League tie against his former club Porto.
At the races for Inter
“We know that Sunday’s match against Inter will be tough and it’s one of those which everyone would like to play in. We respect our opponents, who are brimming with top players, like Mauro Icardi who’s capable of scoring whenever he has a sniff of goal, so we need to make sure that we’re on our toes. Nonetheless, we’ll be going out there to win, especially as it’s at home game in front of our fans.
“Winning would represent another important step towards our season objectives. The Scudetto is still a long way away, however. There are many more matches left to play and we need to keep putting in the hard yards.”
Gonzalo the go-to man
“Gonzalo (Higuain) is an intelligent player with great movement. He’s not the kind of striker who stands still. On the contrary, he’s very clever with the way he breaks into space and he’s an excellent understanding of the game and our patterns of play.
Prepared for Porto
“Whenever Porto take on the top teams in front of their supporters, they treat it like the biggest match of their lives. I’ve still got a lot of friends in Portugal and I know how much their home games mean for them.
“I’m honestly not very worried about returning to the Estadio do Dragao. I’m just concentrating on playing well there on the night.”
