Chelsea see Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku, according to The Mirror.
The British newspaper tips Mandzukic as Antonio Conte’s next choice in line after Lukaku opted to remain at Everton.
It would be a surprise switch for the 30-year-old Croatia international, who only joined Juve a year ago following his €19m move from Atletico Madrid.
In theory, Juventus could release him, having just spent €90m on Gonzalo Higuain.
The Mirror states Chelsea are ready to offer £25m (€28.9m), which is more than the Bianconeri intend to pocket from much younger Simone Zaza.
Last season Mandzukic scored 13 goals in 36 competitive games for the Turin giants, also providing six assists.
