Leonardo Bonucci will reportedly be offered a new contract worth €5m per year as Juventus aim to keep Manchester City and Chelsea at bay.
The centre-back is hot property on the transfer market, as he combines rugged defending with remarkably skilful long-range passing to build moves from the back.
This is the main reason why current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola called him one of his favourite players in the world.
Guardiola and Antonio Conte both tried to sign Bonucci this summer, but were told to forget it.
According to Calciomercato.com, Juventus intend to reward him with a new contract worth €5m per year plus bonuses.
It’d make Bonucci the second highest-paid player at Juve after Gonzalo Higuain.
Only last year, the Italy international doubled his wages to €3.5m per year, so the climb has been extraordinary.
Even €5m plus bonuses is less than the salary offered by Manchester City, but Bonucci seems determined to remain in Turin.
