The Italy international has not featured in a matchday squad under Mourinho this season and last appeared for the Red Devils in Wayne Rooney's testimonial on August 3.
Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport claim his relationship with the new Red Devils boss has suffered a 'complete breakdown'.
Mourinho has preferred Antonio Valencia at right-back this season - a reversal of former manager Louis van Gaal's choice to play Darmian ahead of the Ecuadorean last term.
The former Torino star started 15 games at right-back under Van Gaal in the Premier League last season with only eight United players featuring for more league minutes.
But Mourinho's decision to demote Darmian has reportedly angered the Italian, who could now be on the move at the next opportunity.
Juventus, who have have been regularly linked with the 26-year-old, are looking to replace Stephan Lichtsteiner and Tuttosport think £17m is enough prise Darmian away from Manchester.
