Andrea Pirlo believes Juventus are the Paris Saint-Germain of Serie A, and confirms contact with Inter.
The veteran midfielder left the Bianconeri to join New York City FC in MLS in the summer of 2015, and has given his opinion on the Italian top-flight from his outsiders’ viewpoint.
“Looking at Italian football from the outside, it’s not that bad,” Pirlo assured Sky.
“Even if, it must be said, Serie A is becoming like the French League. Juventus are playing in a separate competition, at least that’s what the transfer window said. The Bianconeri are like PSG.
“Selling Pogba? When you look at the players who came in I think it was the right sale. After this great transfer campaign, I think Juventus are built to win everything.”
Pirlo also represented both Milan clubs, and confirms that Inter tried to bring him back to Italy last January.
“It’s bad that [Silvio] Berlusconi and [Massimo] Moratti are gone, they were good for Italian football. The Chinese? Let’s see if they’ll be able to resurrect these prestigious clubs.
“Inter? Yes, there was an enquiry last year but I preferred to stay in America. After the choice I made it wasn’t the right thing to return to Italy.”
