It is reported that Liverpool will rival Juventus for the signature of Belgium international Axel Witsel.
The Bianconeri were heavily linked with a move for the midfielder during the summer transfer window, but a deal with Zenit St Petersburg was not finalised.
According to Calciomercato.com, Juve and Witsel have already agreed personal terms but the Russian club are clinging to the hope they can convince the 27-year-old to sign a new contract.
This appears highly unlikely and the player will almost certainly leave for free once his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Daily Mirror say that an alternative destination to Turin could be Liverpool, who are monitoring the situation and could revive their interest.
