Juventus Football Club can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with Chelsea for the loan of Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello until 30 June 2019, for an annual consideration of €5 million.
Juventus has the right to acquire the player on a permanent basis, or will be obliged to upon the achievement of agreed team results during the loan period, for a fee of €25 million, payable in three financial years, minus the loan fees already paid.
Should Juventus achieve certain sporting results during the player’s contract of employment, the club will owe Chelsea an additional €4 million in contingent payments.
Upon joining from Chelsea last summer, the Colombian took little time in establishing himself as a firm favourite among Bianconeri fans. After all, it was Juan’s sliding finish at Juventus Stadium on Halloween night against Torino that brought the home faithful to its feet and earned his team the first of an astonishing 15 victories throughout the winter to seize control of the title race.
It is moments like that – sure to live long in the memories of all that were there to witness it – that will ensure supporters welcome back the winger with open arms.
Ever a man for the big occasion, Cuadrado’s most recent gift for the Old Lady was just as dramatic – an inch-perfect assist for Alvaro Morata in May’s cup final triumph over Milan at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
In between, the 28-year old would register crucial Serie A strikes past Frosinone, Genoa and Palermo, not to mention a remarkably cool contender for goal of the season against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, but focusing only on Juan’s penalty-box contributions would be somewhat limiting, such was the scale of his impact on the champions.
Moulded into a multi-purpose wing-back over the course of the campaign, the trickster topped the Juventus charts for free-kicks claimed by some distance (88), completed successful dribbles with greater frequency than his colleagues (one every 24 minutes), all while creating a scoring opportunity once every 47 minutes, second only to fellow South American Alex Sandro (36).
Ultimately, football is a game to be celebrated and Juan’s infectious flair, flamboyancy, passion and perserverance have ensured that Bianconeri fans the world over have done just that ever since sparkling on to the Turin scene last summer.
It is with great pleasure that all associated with Juventus Football Club welcome back Juan for the upcoming campaign and wish him further success in the black and white.
Bentornato, Juan!
