According to reports Everton will be facing off with interest from fellow Premier League clubs Southampton and West Ham for Simone Zaza. The striker has been bench relegated for Italian champions Juventus. He is currently playing for Italy in the Euro 2016 tournament and was directly involved in the goal to beat Sweden.
Zaza was signed by Juventus last season for £13.5 Million, but has become a third or fourth option for Juventus. He appeared in 24 games in all competitions this past season averaging 40 minutes a game in his super sub type role. He totaled eight goals in that time. That’s one every three games played, but if you go by minutes played he scored once every 120 minutes or a goal every other game.
It’s unlikely that Zaza would be a full replacement for Romelu Lukaku and would appear to be a second option or second striker. He has no experience at wide positions so would not be a flexible option to play outside.
At only 24 years old he has plenty of time left in his prime making him a good target if Juventus does not see him in the future as their starting striker. As for Everton entrusting him in case Lukaku leaves does not seem like the best move. I would prefer a team looking at a large budget to aim at a more established striker
