Juventus have identified Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi as a replacement for the outgoing Martin Caceres.
The Uruguayan international will depart Turin after four-and-a-half successful seasons when his contract expires at the end of the month, and the Bianconeri are on the hunt to strengthen their rearguard.
Mustafi, who netted for Germany in their Euro 2016 opener against Ukraine this past week, has been a solid performer for the Mestalla outfit for the past two seasons and could make a return to the Serie A.
The 24-year-old made his name at Sampdoria from 2011 to 2014 after failing to make the grade at Everton, with his performances under Sinisa Mihajlovic at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris earning him a move to La Liga.
During talks with his teammate Andre Gomes, the Old Lady are expected to ask Valencia about the availability of Mustafi and could complete a double swoop from Los Che if they get their way.
Juventus are also keeping tabs on Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia, who is also garnering interest former club Roma. Mats Hummels’ arrival has condemned Benatia to reserve status, and he will be allowed to leave the Bundesliga this summer.
