Today, Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta confirmed Real Madrid’s intentions to bring the striker back to Spain after two seasons with the Italian giants. He told reporters,:
“Real Madrid have informed us of their intention to exercise the right to buy back, we are just waiting for a written offer.”
Marotta went on to say that he doesn’t see Morata staying beyond the summer.
“Only then will we see how to proceed, but at the moment the possibility of Morata staying are slim. He will leave Turin and return to Spain.”
Given Morata’s performances in the Champions League over the past two seasons, this is a tough pill to swallow for the Juventus management. Chelsea and Arsenal were said to be interested in the player as Real Madrid are reportedly actively shopping him to bigger suitors. Juventus, on the other hand, will now begin to look for replacements.
Another Juventus player rumoured to be on his way to Real Madrid is Paul Pogba. Marotta maintains that there is no way the French international leaves this summer.
“We have not received any offers for Pogba. He is a fundamental and indispensable player for the present and future of Juventus.”
With the transfer window yet to fully kick into gear expect the Pogba-Real Madrid saga to dominate all headlines.
