Saints To Join Scrap For Sturaro

Former Saints chief Ronald Koeman had reportedly identified the 23-year-old midfielder as a potential recruit in the January transfer window but a deal failed to materialise.

Koeman has since departed for Everton and while no replacement has been found on the managerial front, the club appear to be still active in the transfer market.

A report in Italy claims that the Saints are looking to snap up Sturaro, who is best suited in a ball-winning defensive midfield role and would almost certainly be a replacement for Tottenham-bound Victor Wanyama.

The main obstacle to a deal is the interest of Leicester, who are looking to bolster their squad for next season's title defence and venture into the Champions League, which will no doubt give them the upper hand in any transfer scrap.

Juventus are also thought to be keen on keeping Sturaro in Turin and could rebuff any offers that come in for him during the summer window.
