Manchester City are said to have stepped up their interest in Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner.
And that has caused Roma to chase both Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna , hoping to pick up whoever is nudged out if and when the Switzerland captain arrives at the Etihad Stadium.
Reports in Italy suggest that the Blues are aiming to prise away the man known as the “Swiss Express” - and that Juve have already moved for Dani Alves as a replacement.
The 33-year-old Brazilian is set to sign a two-year deal with the Serie A champions, and that would seemingly leave Lichtsteiner free to join the Blues.
But Juve have designs on winning the Champions League, and Lichtsteiner has been a big success since he signed from Lazio in 2011.
Both Roma and Inter Milan have expressed an interest in Zabaleta, who still has a year left on his City contract.
Roma are now also said to be looking at Sagna as well, although their chances of landing a player who was one of their best performers last season are pretty slim.
