Javier Mascherano could finally be on his way to Juventus, after Barcelona appear to have found a replacement for the Argentina international.
The reigning Serie A champions have been on the trail of the versatile defender for some time, but with the Catalan giants unwilling to sell, were expected to look elsewhere this summer.
However, according to Sport.es, with fellow South American Marquinhos pushing to leave Paris Saint-Germain and head to Spain, the Bianconeri will step up their efforts to take the 32-year-old to Turin.
That will still require some work on Juventus’ behalf, as regardless of whether the ex-Roma defender leaves Paris for the Blaugrana, the La Liga champions still hope to keep Mascherano at Camp Nou.
Despite the continual speculation surrounding his future at Barcelona, the former Liverpool man has given little indication whether he would welcome a move to the Old Lady.
After joining the Spanish giants from the Merseyside outfit in 2010 for €24 million, the Argentine has played a considerable part in the club’s success and collected 15 major honours in the process.
